Gore Girl’s New Site
by Dan Hays on May.14, 2009, under Site
One of our dear friends, Gore Girl, who helped us way back at day one of the NCGH, has a new site!
Those in Chicago should tune in and enjoy her fun insanity. Those who speak English can also tune in via the internet.
Additions to the forums
by Dan Hays on May.14, 2009, under Forums
We are trying our hardest to get the forums up and running. The big thing to to make the forums work for our members. So we’ve been adding forums for various subgroups to the board. However to keep the forum from being cluttered we’ve been hiding the forums and allowing access via user groups.
You can add yourself to these groups via the user control panel and the page marked usergroups. Each group has an associated forum, and you can add as many as you want. Removal is just as easy.
If you wish to see a new group and section, ask the forum staff at forums@ncgh.org. We will also make special invite only groups for member ghost hunting groups.
Minor Update to Forums
by Dan Hays on May.10, 2009, under Forums
We’ve made minor changes to the security and spam filtering processes in the forums, the changes should make it harder for spam and junk to get onto the forums. However it will also make the registration process take a bit longer. The big changes are we enabled captcha (picture of letters) and made it a bit harder then before. If you have trouble with this part of the registration process, e-mail an admin and we can help you out. The other change is that we now check user ips against lists of known spam generators. This is the part that may take a bit of time. However this added time shouldn’t add more then a few minutes to the time it takes to get the confirmation e-mail.
Hopefully this should help keep spam bots in check even more.
Changes to the Site
by Dan Hays on Apr.22, 2009, under NCGH
Over the last few days we’ve made to the site. Most of the changes have to do with the basic layout and what is shown on the front page. Those changes include adding drop down menus to the navigation bar above, changing the sidebar to the right to include paranormal news, articles we write, site newsletters, and recent forum topics. Other then that we also changed the layout of several pages to make it easier to use.
Outside of layout changes, we added a listing for individual members, either members of a group listed here already, or members independent of a group. We removed the news section of the site, in favor of incorporating it into the main site. We also added a IRC client so those who don’t already have an IRC client can take part in our IRC channel.
The rest of the changes are in the back-end to make running the site faster and easier and won’t be seen.
